Solo Show-Multimedia Installation, 31 May’23 – 5 November’23
Medium: Site-Specific Multimedia Installation (Moving Image Collage, Projection, Mirrors)
‘जत्रा : A Feeling At The Beginning Of Time‘ is a part of an ongoing conceptual, technical and spatial exploration of moving image collage. These films reflect a moment rather than a whole story. This momentariness complicates our experience of time making it multidimensional, similar to the way one can find limitlessness within atomic structures. For जत्रा : A Feeling At The Beginning Of Time, the moving image collage was built from three archival registers. First : The Bodgeshwar Jatra- takes place once a year in Mapusa-Goa and is dedicated to the demi-God Bodgeshwar who guides those who are lost. Second : Chokhi Dhani, a folk performance village which is a tourist attraction on the outskirts of Jaipur-Rajasthan. Third : Kalambasta, my ancestral village along the Konkan coast of Maharashtra. Fourth : ‘Entities’, an ongoing exploration of filming my body existing as different entities. Thus othering, fictionalising and complicating myself. Breaking open the ‘I’ and ‘Me’ like a coconut cracked to reveal what is inside. Complicating and layering the ‘me’.
